JIM (ROBERT JAMES) DOREY
The aggressive hockey player who made a name in both the NHL and WHL
signs this 3½x5 photograph
Inscribed photograph signed: "Eric/Jim Dorey" in blue ink.
3½x5. Robert James Dorey (b. 1947) is a retired former professional ice
hockey player. Dorey was a defenseman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs
and New York Rangers in the NHL. He also had a long career in the WHA
playing for New England Whalers, Toronto Toros and Quebec Nordiques and
played on two Avco World Trophy winning teams. Dorey's NHL debut was a noteworthy one, while
playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October
16, 1968 he was to set, what was at the time, the NHL single-game record of
48 penalty minutes. His rugged, aggressive style was to cement him as a Leaf
mainstay for the next four seasons. In 1971 he signed with the WHA's New England
Whalers. Dorey went on to be a WHA star for the entire seven seasons of the
league's existence. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
