Titled: "Oakland Bowls 'em Over". Depicts Super Bowl XI, in which the
Oakland Raiders beat the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 32-14. Tunney (pictured
at right blowing a whistle) was a referee at the game, one of the three Super
Bowls at which he officiated (the others were Super Bowl VI, between Dallas
and Miami, and Super Bowl XII, between Dallas and Denver). Tunney, the only
referee to have worked at consecutive Super Bowls, was also an alternate
for Super Bowl XVIII (Oakland versus Washington). Jim Tunney who was a
NFL referee from 1960-1991, officiated at a record 29 post-season
assignments, including ten championship games and six Pro Bowls in addition
to three Super Bowls. An inductee of the National Football League Hall of
Fame, Tunney is still active in NFL affairs and sports issues. A popular
motivational speaker, he has written a number of magazine and newspaper articles
and columns as well as several books. Lightly creased with folds, horizontal
fold touches "Jim" and 1 letter of inscription. Remnants from removal of label
at left margin. Right corners diagonally trimmed. Overall, fine
condition.
