Original Art signed: "Jim Whiting". He has drawn a fortune teller
gazing at the postmarked (pictured as a crystal ball), captioning it "I see a
great future for young Tom Sawyer." First Day Cover in the American folklore
series, honoring Tom Sawyer, postmarked Hannibal, Missouri, October 13, 1972,
Four 8-cent stamps affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Jim Whiting's cartoons
were carried in Colliers, Look and The Saturday Evening Post. Over 14,000
of his cartoons have been published. Whiting wrote an autobiography,
Analecta, and now draws illustrations for children's books and
corporate clients, including advertisements, manuals and trade publications.
Whiting is an amateur magician, and has often featured magicians in his art.
