6-15-1976 79 yrs. Jimmie Dykes (1896-1976) played infield for the Philadelphia A's
(1918-1932) and Chicago White Sox (1933-1949). He was on two World Championship
teams (the A's of 1929 and 1930), and played in the first two All-Star games. A fine fielder
and a contact hitter, he batted over .300 six times. Dykes managed the White Sox for 13
years (1934-1946), beginning as a player/manager. He managed five other Major League
teams through 1961. He was the first manager to win over 1,000 games without winning a
pennant. Toned. Stray ink mark at center right below signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
