Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Pimpo". B/w, 1½x2½. Captioned in lower margin. Jimmy Freeman, better known as Pimpo the Clown, performed in English showman George Sanger's Circus in the 1930s and 1940s. In "A Perfect Holiday", essayist E. V. Lucas describes Pimpo's performance, which apparently included acrobatic and animal training skills as well as more conventional clowning. Mounting residue on verso (no show though). Otherwise, fine condition.
