JIMMY SHINE PLAY CAST
Murray Schisgal, Eli Mintz, Pamela Payton-Wright, and David Sabin sign their names on a Playbill for a production of Jimmy Shine
Show bill signed: "Eli Mintz", "David Sabin", "Murray Schisgal", "Pamela Payton", 72 pages, 6x9. Playbill for a production of Jimmy Shine at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York. MURRAY SCHISGAL (b. 1926) is an award winning American playwright and screenwriter, writing for both stage and film. Several of his writings have become Broadway hits, such as Luv (1964), All Over Town (1974), and An American Millionaire (1974). The play Luv earned two Tony nominations; one for Best Play and one for Best Author. However, it was ultimately his work in film that would earn him a win, with his work on the film Tootsie (1982) earning him several nominations and wins, including a WGA Award, a NYFCC Award, and a NSFC Award. Polish-born actor ELI MINTZ (1905-1988) came to the U.S. in 1927, establishing himself in the Yiddish theater. He had a special attachment to the role of Uncle David, which he played in Molly and which he had played in the antecedent (early 1950s) play, film and TV series, The Goldbergs. PAMELA PAYTON-WRIGHT won two Drama Desk Awards a generation apart, as actress in Mourning Becomes Electra (1973) and as director of The Orphans' Home Cycle (2010). Stage and screen actor DAVID SABIN (b. 1937) has appeared in 13 Broadway plays and 12 film/television credits. His first career role was in the 1965 play The Yearling, though the role was relatively minor. Other plays include Jimmy Shine (1968), Threepenny Opera (1976), The Suicide (1980), and Follies (2011), with the last role being his first starring role in a Broadway production. He was less successful in television, usually only appearing in minor roles, though he did have a recurring role as Little John in When Things Were Rotten (1975). Lightly toned. Corners and edges lightly worn. Image slightly faded. Bottom left corner missing (on verso). Otherwise, fine condition.
