1988. This is Carner's official score card from the third round of the 43rd
United States Women's Open Championship. Carner was five over for this round,
with two birdies, five bogies and one disastrous double bogie on the sixth hole.
The 1988 U. S. Women's Open was held at the Baltimore Country Club and was won
by Liselotte Neumann, who finished the tournament seven strokes under.
CARNER, born JoAnne Gunderson in Kirkland, Washington in 1939, is a
retired American golfer. Carner started out with a stellar amateur career; she
is, as of this biography, the only golfer to have won three different USGA
amateur championship events, and her total of five amateur victories is only
matched by Glenna Collett Vare's total of six. She went pro in 1970, after
winning an LPGA event as an amateur in 1969, and was named 1970 LPGA
Rookie of the Year. She has since gone on to 43 wins on the LPGA tour,
including two wins on the U. S. Women's Open (1971 and 1976). She was
inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1982. SHEEHAN, born in
Middlebury, Vermont in 1956, who joined the tour in 1980, won the LPGA
Championship in 1983, 1984 and 1993, the U.S. Women's Open in 1992
and 1994 and the Nabisco Dinah Shore in 1996. A member of the U.S.
Solheim Cup team in 1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996, Sheehan was inducted into the
LPGA Hall of Fame in 1993. Lightly toned. Folded thrice, comes folded in
half. Otherwise, fine condition.
