Photograph signed: "JoJo White". B/w, 10x8. Centerfielder Joyner Clifford "Jo-Jo" White (1909-1986) played nine Major League seasons between 1932 and 1944, his best seasons coming with the Detroit Tigers. He played in the 1934 and 1935 World Series, scoring six runs against the "Gas House Gang" Cardinals in 1934. White, a Georgian, roomed with Bronx-born Hank Greenberg on the road for five seasons, and that got along well, except - Greenberg noted - for re-fighting the Civil War every night. Demoted to AAA Seattle after clashing with his manager, White helped the Rainiers to back-to-back Pacific Coast League pennants in 1940 and 1941. He later coached 5 Major League teams. His son, Mike White, played three seasons with the Houston Astros. Lightly worn. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
