JOAN B. KENNEDY
Signed cover of Good Housekeeping, with lead story: "Joan Kennedy
Talks Frankly About Herself and Ted."
Magazine Cover signed: "Joan Kennedy", 8½x11. Good
Housekeeping magazine of June 1971. Cover story: "Joan Kennedy Talks Frankly
About Herself and Ted." Joan Bennett Kennedy (b. 1936), a teenage TV
model, attended Sacred Heart College in New York (now Manhattanville) with her
future sister in law Jean Kennedy (Smith), who introduced her to
brother Edward "Ted" Kennedy. She married him in 1958, and they had three
children. The Kennedys separated in 1978, but she participated in his
Presidential campaign of 1980, as she had in his prior campaigns for the US
Senate since 1962. A divorce was finalized in 1982. Joan acknowledged her
alcoholism in magazine interviews, and she seemed on the road to
recovery, publishing a book, The Joy of Classical Music, in 1992. Severe
alcohol problems recurred, however, and legal battles have ensued over her
guardianship and estate. She never re-married, and she attended Edward Kennedy's
funeral mass in 2009. Left edge frayed from binding. Lightly toned at edge.
Otherwise, fine condition.
