JOAN BAEZ
Black and white publicity photograph of Joan Baez with an ornately decorated
hat on.
Photograph signed: "Joan Baez". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7x8 (one
surface). Captioned at bottom margin. Often called the "Queen of the
Folksingers", Joan Baez (born in 1961) first appeared at the Newport Folk
Festival in 1959. From 1962-1964, she was one of America's most popular folk
singers, appearing in concert and singing at political events, including the
1963 March on Washington. That year, Baez began the first of several tours
with Bob Dylan, and her songs turned from traditional folk music to more
socially-oriented works. Baez, who earned fame for both her singing and her
political activism, had hits with "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and
"Diamonds and Rust". Fine condition.
