Joan Bennett sends a typed letter saying that the facts in a clipping
were correct.
Typed Letter Signed: "Joan Bennett", 1p, 8½x11. Beverly
Hills, California, 1933 August 16. On her personal letterhead to Mr. F.L.
Withers, Sunday Mercury, Birmingham. In full: "Some few months ago you
sent me a note with a clipping enclosed, entitled, 'Imaginary Passports'. You
ask (sic, asked) me to check the facts contained. They were all quite
correct, and may I say I think your article extremely good. I appreciate your
kindness. Sincerely," In the year this letter was written, Joan Bennett
(1910-1990), the daughter of stage actor Richard Bennett and sister of screen
actresses Constance and Barbara Bennett, was a popular ingénue. She made the
film Arizona to Broadway and starred as Amy in Little
Women. Bennett would appear in over 40 films, including Bulldog
Drummond (1929), Father of the Bride (1950) and We're No
Angels (1955). Active on the stage in the 1960s, she also starred in the
TV series Dark Shadows (1966-1971) and appeared in a number of
made-for-television movies. Lightly creased. Folds, vertical fold touches the
"Jo" of Joan. Fine condition.
