Joan Crawford inscribes her signature to Elsie Myrus, the wife of a mental telepathist, who solicited autographs from celebrities attending her husband's performances.
Inscribed signature: "To Elsie/Gratefully/Joan Crawford", 4x4¾ card. Card of Café Lamaze, Hollywood, California, advertising appearance by Myrus, "Man with the X-Ray Eyes/The Wizard of Mental Telepathy". Signed on verso in spaces left empty to "Ask Myrus". From the collection of Elsie Myrus, the wife of the mental telepathist, who solicited autographs from celebrities attending her husband's performances. Actress Joan Crawford (1908-1977), originally a professional dancer, made her film debut in 1925. She won a Best Actress Academy Award for Mildred Pierce (1945) and was nominated for Best Actress Oscars for Possessed (1947) and Sudden Fear (1952). A tell-all memoir, Mommie Dearest (1978, later made into a feature film), by her daughter Christina, portrayed Crawford as unfeeling and ruthlessly ambitious. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
