Inscribed Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "For Norman/Joan Dowling" in red ink. Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 3¼x5½ overall, 3x5 image, one surface. British Picturegoer postcard. Dowling (1927-1954) is a British actress who's possibly best known for her first movie role, as Clarry in Hue and Cry (1947), about a gang of kids foiling criminals who transmit messages through comic books. Dowling married fellow co-star Harry Fowler and went on to make 11 more movies, mostly in starring roles. Unfortunately, she committed suicide in 1954. Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Signature has low contrast in places, but is legible. Lightly scratched (not visible) and scuffed on image. Otherwise, fine condition.
