Handwritten letter from the Maine Maritime Academy football player assuring the
recipient that he has not forgotten about his request
Autograph Letter signed: "Joe Clark" in blue ink, 1p, 6x9 attached to an irregularly cut 6½x11
piece of paper. No place, 1983 January 13. To "Dear Mr. Woods". In full: "I was very
flattered to recieve [sic]your request of a picture with my autograph. I just wanted to drop a line
telling you that I haven't forgotten about it./ Our public reltions [sic] officer CMDR. Giomati
develops pictures and he is going to make me one to send to you./ I will sent it along shortly. Do
not worry about the cost because the school pays for the pictures./ Thanks again for his flattering
request". Joe Clark was a football player who graduated from the Maine Maritime
Academy in 1983 after playing as a four-year starter and three-year letterman on the team. He
was elected as team captain his senior year, and was the very first Mariner to be selected as a
NAIA First Team All-American during his senior year. In honor of his outstanding play,
Maine Maritime Academy retired his jersey number 75. Rippling throughout of paper on
which letter is written due to adhesion. Tape attached at center of top edge. Arrow extending
inward from the left-hand side of paper to which letter is affixed. Otherwise, fine condition.
