JOE LOSS The British bandleader inscribes this 5½x3½ photo to a fan Inscribed Photograph signed: “To Frank/ Good luck/ Joe Loss” in black ink, b/w, 5½x3½. Joe Loss (1909-1990) was a British musician and bandleader. He began leading a band, which came to be known as the Joe Loss Orchestra, in the 1930s, first at the Astoria Ballroom, and then at the Kit-Cat Club. During the 1950s and the early part of the 1960s, Loss was the resident bandleader at the Hammersmith Palais. His band's signature tune, which also happened to be its most frequently requested, was “In the Mood”. In 1989, Loss became too sick to travel and handed over leadership of his orchestra in 1989 to Todd Miller, who remains its leader. In 2015, the group enjoyed its 85th anniversary. Corners and edges worn. Gently bowed. Toned. Sparse foxing at edges. Adhesive remnants on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
