three Super Bowls with their 20-16 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl
XXIII, held on January 22, 1989 at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami. On January 29, 2000,
the day before Super Bowl XXXIV, it was announced that JOE MONTANA had been
elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The quarterback led Notre Dame to the national
college football championship in 1977. Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to Super
Bowl victories in 1982, 1985, 1989 and 1990, winning Super Bowl MVP honors in 1982,
1985 and 1990. JERRY RICE, with 14 NFL records, 12 Pro Bowl Invitations and a spot on
the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team to his credit, is considered the greatest wide receiver
ever to play in the NFL, and is probably the greatest player the league has ever seen.
