JOEY HEATHERTON
The 16-year-old actress signs a contract to appear on an episode of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall.
Typed Contract signed: "Joey Heatherton" as Performer on first page and initialed "J.H." on sheet affixed to page 7 of attached Rider, 2p, 8½x11, front and verso, with seven page rider, 8½x11, separate sheets. New York City, 1961 February 1. Contract between Heatherton and Roncom Productions, Inc. for an appearance on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for Single Television Broadcast/and For Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One Calendar Week". Heatherton agrees to appear on an episode of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall to be aired February 8, 1961. She was to be paid $750 per show for her appearance as a "Guest Artist". Tape date is also listed. Also signed: "Harvey B. Sindle" as Assistant Secretary for Roncom Productions, Inc. and initialed "HBS" on sheet attached to Rider. "(Mrs) Roy Heatherton" written in unknown hand (possibly Heatherton's) above her signature (the signature is not that of her mother, Davenie W. Heatherton). The Rider is also initialed "R.H.", the initials of her father, Ray Heatherton. Joey Heatherton had turned 16 on September 14, 1960, less than five months before she signed this contract, making it a requirement for a parent to sign for her. Multi-talented singer, dancer and actress Joey Heatherton (born Davenie Johanna Heatherton in 1944) is best remembered as a young sexpot known for her "Lolita" image. The daughter of song-and-dance man Ray Heatherton (1909-1997) and Davenie Ross Watson Heatherton, Joey, who received ballet training as a child, began her career in entertainment on the stage. She received her first national exposure as a regular on The Perry Como Show, where her role as a young co-ed who has a crush on the star propelled her into an acting career. She began guest starring on such TV series as Route 66, The Virginian, Mr. Novak and The Nurses as well as performing as herself on a long list of variety and talk shows, and Heatherton also appeared in several made-for-TV movies. Heatherton, who made her first feature film, Twilight of Honor (for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer - Female), in 1963, was later seen on the big screen in Where Love Has Gone (1964), My Blood Runs Cold (1965), Bluebeard (1972), The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington (1977), The Perils of P.K. (1986), Cry-Baby (1990) and Reflections of Evil (2002). She also found success with her recordings, and Heatherton displayed both her song and dance talents on several USO tours with Bob Hope. Lightly creased. Slightly soiled. Stapled at upper left margin, which also has staple holes. Light red stamp at lower right margin of first page. Overall, fine condition.
