Signature: "John A. Gronouski". 5x3 card. Accompanied by forwarding letter from his administrative secretary on letterhead of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas, dated November 11, 1981. John Austin Gronouski (1919-1996) was Ambassador to Poland from 1965-1969. He had previously served as U.S. Postmaster General under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1965), becoming the first Polish-American Cabinet member. In 1969, Johnson, who had appointed Gronouski as Ambassador, asked him to be the founding dean of the LBJ School, where Gronouski served until his retirement in 1974. Gronouski, a veteran of WWII, had joined the Wisconsin Department of Taxation in 1959, becoming Wisconsin State Commissioner of Taxation in 1960. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
