10x8. John Astin (b. 1930) was nominated for a 1968 Academy Award for Best Live
Action Short for Prelude. Astin, who made his film debut in West Side Story (1961) and
appeared in a number of feature films, made-for-television movies and TV series, is best
known for his role as family patriarch Gomez Addams on The Addams Family
(1964-1966). He reprised his role in the 1979 television film, Halloween With the Addams
Family, and lent his voice to the Saturday morning cartoon version of his TV series. Astin was
married to actress Patty Duke from 1972-1985. Appearing in her first film at age eight (I'll Cry
Tomorrow, 1955), Patty Duke (1946-2016) earned an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress
for her portrayal of Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (1962). Seventeen years after
this award-winning performance, she portrayed Anne Sullivan in a TV movie remake. As the
star of The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966), she portrayed identical twins. Other film credits
include Billie (1965), Me, Natalie (1969), and Willy/Milly (1986). Her son Sean Astin is
also an actor; he famously portrayed Sam Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Duke
was the first female president of the Screen Actors Guild (1985-1988). Over the course
of her long and celebrated career, she won an Oscar, two Golden Globes, and three
Emmys. Lightly toned. Some wear around edges. Bottom right corner creased. Clip marks on
