Majors as a "bonus baby" in 1948, but he really hit his stride with the New York Giants after
returning from military service. His best season was 1954, when he went 21-7 with the
league's best ERA, adding another win in the Giants' World Series sweep of the
Cleveland Indians. The Sporting News named him Pitcher of the Year, and he made the
first of his five All-Star teams. He won 20 games again in 1956. He retired rather than accept
a trade to the original New York Mets of 1962. Fine condition.
