B/w with sepia hue, 8x10. Signed in 1944. JohnBoles (1895-1969, born in Greenville, Texas), a stage actor and singer before making his film debut in 1924, appeared in a number of feature films for Fox and as a freelancer, including Rio Rita (1929), The Desert Song (1929), Frankenstein (1931), Bottoms Up (1934), and three Shirley Temple films. Before his acting career took off, Boles studied to become a physician and later served in the United States Army Intelligence Service during WWI for two years. Ink smudged at one word of inscription. Lightly bowed and creased. Soiled at left blank margin. Ink notations on verso in another hand, no show through. Otherwise, fine condition.
