Annotated document signed "John Boorman" in blue ink. With white-out marks and red pencil notations in unknown hand. 1 page, 5¼x4 card, with perforated top edge. Titled: "60th Annual Academy Awards/GUEST OF THE ACADEMY". Boorman filled out this card to indicate that he would attend both the Academy Awards presentation and the Board of Governors Ball. He also filled out his address and phone number in Beverly Hills, California. This was for the 1987 Academy Awards, held on April 11, 1988. Boorman's Hope and Glory was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Director, Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. He lost in all three categories. Independent-minded Boorman, born in London, England, in 1933, has directed over 20 movies and TV shows, works that he often wrote and produced, as well. He' taken on his share of risky movies in his career, leading to as many hits (Deliverance, 1972; Excalibur, 1981; Hope and Glory, 1987; The General, 1998) as misses (Leo the Last, 1970; Zardoz, 1973; Exorcist II: The Heretic, 1977; The Emerald Forest, 1985). He's received Academy Award nominations for best director and best picture twice, for Deliverance and Hope and Glory. Fine condition.
