Autograph Note signed: "To Ralph E Ward All good luck to you - always. Sincerely John Bricker", 1 page, 8x10½ U.S. Senate letterhead, Washington, D.C., no date. Affixed to an 8½x11 page, with a B/w newspaper photograph of Bricker affixed to the letter (3 surfaces). Accompanied by transmittal envelope with Bricker's ink stamped frank, postmarked Washington D.C., May 6, 1947, affixed to verso of the 8½x11 page (2 surfaces). John Bricker (1893-1986) was Governor of Ohio from 1939-1945, Republican candidate for Vice President (1944) and a U.S. Senator of Ohio (1947-1959). His proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution ("the Bricker Amendment"), which would have required concurrent Congressional legislation before any international agreement became part of U.S. law, failed by one vote in the Senate. From the collection Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II. Ward became President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate. Adhesive on verso (affixing letter to the page). Multiple mailing folds. Lightly toned and lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
