Autograph letter signed: "John Farrar", in black ink, 5½x8½. August 28, 1923. In part: "Dear Muss Lichtenberg, I am glad that you like "The Bookman" and if any act of mine so simple as writing a note can aid you - here you are! Could a humble editor add to your [illegible] collection. Sincerely". John C. Farrar (1896-1974) was an American editor and publisher. Previously a graduate from Yale, Farrar became the editor of The Bookman up until it's purchase in 1927 by Seward Collins. Soon after, he founded his own publishing house, Farrar & Rinehart, and another after World War II, Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Normal mailing fold. Light surface creases. Lightly toned. Light surface creases. Slightly soiled. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on top left. Corners lightly worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
