He had prominent roles, though not the lead, in such successful films as Captains Courageous (1937), Stagecoach (1939) and The Grapes of Wrath (1940). Though often cast as a villain, he was versatile enough to play a kindly Abe Lincoln (Of Human Hearts, 1938). Many of his performances late in his career were low budget horror flicks. He is the father of actors David, Keith, Robert and Bruce Carradine.TED FIO RITO (1900-1971) led a swing band, The Ted Fio Rito Orchestra, from the 1920s through the 1950s. Its signature song was "Rio Rita." Future actresses Betty Grable and June Haver were among his vocalists. He wrote the well-known popular song "Toot, Toot, Tootsie, Goodbye." GLENN LANGAN (1917-1991) had prominent roles in some major films of the late 1940s, including Dragonwyck and Forever Amber. Thereafter, he found his niche as a leading man in B-movies. He is best remembered for his title role in The Amazing Colossal Man, tearing up Las Vegas after growing to huge size from exposure to radiation. Langan was married to actress Adele Jergens for the last 40 years of his life. These notes were written to Los Angeles radio host Glenn Sanders, who collected autographs of guests on his show. Light show-through of ink on verso. Lightly jagged at left edge. Ink number (unknown hand) at lower right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
