JOHN CARRADINE A signed black and white photograph of the actor in a scene from The Story of Mankind Photograph signed: "Best wishes/ John Carradine". B/w, 10x8. Publicity photo from Irwin Allen's 1957 epic The Story of Mankind picturing Vincent Price (left but not signing) as Satan with Carradine as Khufu, King of ancient Egypt, founder of the IV dynasty and builder of the great pyramid at Giza. John Carradine (1906-1988) was happiest performing on stage, yet he made dozens of movies and many television appearances. He had prominent roles, though not the lead, in successful screen productions Stagecoach (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Though often cast as a villain, he was versatile enough to play a kindly Abe Lincoln in Of Human Hearts (1938). Carradine earned over 350 screen credits during his career that spanned over 50 years. His sons David, Keith, Robert, and Bruce all became actors. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
