Signature: "John G. Sargent/Attorney General". 4½x3¼ green album leaf dated 3-13-28 (unknown hand). John G. Sargent (1860-1939), a graduate of Tufts College, served as State Attorney General of Vermont from 1900-1902 and 1908-1912. He was appointed U.S. Attorney General on March 18, 1925 and served in the Coolidge Cabinet until March 5, 1929, succeeding Harlan F. Stone who had been appointed to the Supreme Court. After leaving Washington, he served and chairman of the Vermont Commission on Uniform State Laws and was a trustee of the Black River Academy. Left edge ragged and still containing staple (previous binding). Lightly creased and soiled. Red ink stain at bottom edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
