In Full: “Father Cavanaugh handed me your letter of November 16th for acknowledgement since I am more immediately concerned with the athletic picture than he is. Incidentally, Father is out on the west coast right now for our game with Southern Cal next Saturday. / I am having my secretary take care of the little matter that you requested. She will procure a program and give it to one of our football players or managers to pass around among the various team members for autographs. Unfortunately, that will take several weeks, and I hope that you will not mind the delay. Also, it will be impossible to get Frank Leahy's signature because of the fact that he will be out in Hawaii attending a coaching school until the Christmas holidays. Also, we may not get all of the team members, but I think there will be enough signatures there to make you just a little bit happy at any rate. / Keep up the good fight, and keep on remembering us in the trials that you do have to bear. I shall send you a copy of our annual football issure [sic] of the Notre Dame Scholastic when it comes off the press in a few days. The best of everything to you”. Rev. John H.
