Stunt man turned action hero, TV's Lone Ranger for one season
signs boots he wore.
Boots signed: "John Hart" on inside left of each boot in black
magic marker. Two-tone brown leather Western boots made by Tony Lama of El Paso,
Texas, size 12½D, Style 6993, Reg. #16906294. A stunt
man in films from the late 1930s, Hart was getting major roles in Westerns and
other action films by the early 1950s (Kansas Territory, The Great
Adventures of Captian Kidd). American actor Hart (1917-2009) played
the title role in TV's The Lone Ranger in 52 of its early episodes
(1950-1953),while Clayton Moore was holding out for a higher salary.
In later decades, he guest starred frequently on TV, including appearances in
six episodes of Dallas (1979-1981). He reprised his Lone Ranger
character on episodes of The Greatest American Hero (1981) and
Happy Days (1982). Boots are lightly worn (by Hart himself!).
