blue ink. 1 page. 8½x11. New Haven, Connecticut. In Full: "Dear Sherry
Sussman, I'm not much on, in or for photographs of myself. I'd rather be seen in
my poems. Here is one that can be looked at for beauty, as well as read for the
higher beauty of meaning. [Poem not included.] Yours faithfully"
and: "I wish your enterprise well. One of the problems faced by your
victims of abuse is that it is precisely the people who could never bother
anybody who finds it hard to believe that it happens so often. We all need moral
imagination." John Hollander (1929-2013) is a Jewish
literary critic and poet. He has written a large collection of poems and
criticisms, spanning a half century, from A Crackling of Thorns
(1958) to A Draft of Light (2008). Outside of his original work, he
is known for translating many other pieces from Yiddish. He was a
contributing editor of the Partisan Review and Harper's. He is
Sterling Professor Emeritus of English at Yale University. Light creasing and
