The United States Congressman from New York State pens his autograph on this 7¼x3 piece of paper, signed in iron gall ink

Signature: "John J. Adams/ New York City" 7¼x3. John J. Adams (1848-1919) was a Canadian-born American politician and a United States Congressman from New York. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives from two different districts and represented the 8th District in the 48th United States Congress from March 4, 1883 to March 3, 1885. Later, Adams represented the 7th district in the 50th United States Congress from March 4, 1885 to March 3, 1887; at the time, both districts were in Queens. He did not seek re-nomination in 1886 and returned to practicing law. Lightly toned. Left edge slightly irregular from being torn from album. Otherwise, fine condition.
