Brief but cordial postcard from Glasgow to New York, on a postcard
showing London Bridge
Autograph Letter signed: "J. J. Bell", 5½x3½. Written on the
message side of a postcard illustration of London Bridge. Glasgow, Scotland,
1924 September 25. Addressed in his hand to F. H. Bohrer, Oneida County, New
York. In full: "In response to yours of 6th Sept. - cordial greetings,
kindest wishes of". John Joy "J. J." Bell (1871-1934), a Scottish
journalist, wrote fiction featuring the lives of working class residents of
Glasgow. These somewhat sentimental stories were lauded for their realistic use
of dialect. Toned. Corners worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
