Adhered to a large 8x8 sheet of paper. Also affixed to this sheet are a newspaper clipping that lists his bibliography, and a 4¼x4¾ b/w photograph of him (actual image 2¾x3¾ with white border). John Kendrick Bangs (1862-1922) was a writer and editor who worked for numerous magazines throughout his career. Bangs was a humor editor for all the Harper's magazines (1889-1900), and editor in chief of Harper's Weekly (1901). He later served as editor, successively, of Munsey's Magazine, New Metropolitan, and Puck. Bangs was also a prolific author of novels, plays and humorous books, as well as a widely published poet. Bangsian fantasy, a literary subgenre in which historical figures from different eras interact in the afterlife, is named after the writer. He used this unique and humorous frame in numerous collections such as A House-Boat on the Styx (1895) and The Enchanted Type-Writer (1899). Irregular cut. Large sheet evenly toned.
