JOHN Le CARRÉ The spy writer signed this black and white 4¾x7¼ profile photograph in blue ink Photograph signed: "John le Carré". B/w, 4¾x7¼ overall, image 4¾x6¾ (one surface). English novelist John le Carré (born in 1931) is the pseudonym of David J.M. Cornwell. He served as an intelligence officer for the British Army after World War II; two decades later, he joined the Foreign Service (1960-1964). He used these experiences to create and enhance his world of spies and assassins. His best known works are The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1963) and the trilogy which began with Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (1974). Although it is difficult to do justice to his complex stories on the big screen, many of his novels have been turned into movies, including the above and also The Little Drummer Girl (1984), The Russia House (1990), and The Tailor of Panama (2001).
