JOHN LITHGOW
Tony-winning actor John Lithgow signed this contract in 1985 to appear as the host on Saturday Night Live.
Contract signed "John Lithgow" as Performer and by a representative of National Broadcasting Company, both in black ink. 1 page, 8½x10¾. Dec. 3, 1985. Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for Network Television. Lithgow signed this document to appear as the host on the Dec. 7, 1985 episode of Saturday Night Live for $5,000. Lithgow appeared in Santa Claus: The Movie in 1985. He also was also tapped for narrating duties for the animated short The Amazing Bone. No less a newspaper than the Wall Street Journal has called Lithgow, born in 1945, "the film character actor of his generation." Lithgow has played everything from fish-out-of-water aliens (Third Rock from the Sun, 1996-2001) and Italian mad scientists (The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!, 1984) to malevolent villains (Ricochet, 1991) and transsexual football jocks (The World According to Garp,1982). He's also something of a Renaissance man, being a composer and performer of children's songs and fair-to-middlin' painter. Lithgow got his start in the early 1970s on Broadway and remained in New York for many years, establishing himself as one of Broadway's most respected stars - not to mention earning two Tony Awards for his performances in The Changing Room(1973) and Sweet Smell of Success(2002). Lithgow got his first real break and a Best Supporting Actor nomination from The World According to Garp. He earned a second Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Terms of Endearment(1983). Lightly toned, stained, creased and bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
