Document signed "John M. Erman" in blue ink. Blue ink notations in unknown hand. 2 pages, 6x8½, 1 sheet, front and verso. With 6¼x3¼ initiation fee receipt carbon copy with perforated left edge stapled at top edge. Sept. 19, 1956. Membership form for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In 1956, Erman had an uncredited role in Anything Goes. American director Erman, born in 1935, has been nominated for 10 Emmies, winning for Who Will Love My Children? (1983). Erman has a few movie acting credits from the 1950s, but turned his attention to producing and, more notably, directing in the 1960s. He has over directing credits on almost 70 movies and TV shows since 1963, directing numerous episodes of My Favorite Martian (1965-1966), Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1966), That Girl (1966-1967), The Second Hundred Years (1967-1968), The Flying Nun (1968), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1968-1970), Marcus Welby, M. D. (1969-1974), Karen (1975), Family (1976) and on important miniseries like Roots (1977). He also has almost 20 TV producing credits since 1963, including many projects directed by him. Trekkies may recognize him as the director of the 1968 Star Trek episode The Empath. Lightly toned and creased. Form has light dents at top edge. Receipt is missing bottom right corner, has light tears in top edge and bottom right corner, light nicks in top and right edge and carbon copy marks and was folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
