Mackovic", B/w 8x10. John Mackovic was born on October 1, 1943 in
Barberton, Ohio. An assistant coach at San Jose State (1969-1970) and the
University of Arizona (1973-1976) he became the head football coach at Wake
Forest University (1978-1980). In 1981 and 1982 he was an assistant coach
for Tom Landry's Dallas Cowboys, and became head coach of the Kansas City
Chiefs in 1983. While head coach of the Chiefs (1983-1986) his team had a
record of 30-34, making one playoff appearance in his final year as head coach.
After his NFL career he became head coach at the University of Illinois
(1988-1991) going 1-2 in Bowl games, moving on to coach the University of
Texas (1992-1997) going 1-2 in Bowl games, and head coach of the
University of Arizona (2001-2003). In 2006 he was named head coach of
the U.S. National football team and went on to win the 2007 IFAF World
Cup. Fine condition.
