Autograph letter signed: "John Malone", 2 pages (integral), 4½x7. The Players, Gramercy Park, New York City, New York, 22 January 1900. To "My dear Taylor" in full: "Pray accept my very cordial thanks for your kindness. You have done me a very great favor indeed at a needful time. I am sorry I was not here to see you but I have been kept running about all day. I will write the introduction it once while the subject is fresh in my mind. I enclose the memorandum of receipt[not included]. Your obliged friend." John Malone (also known as John T. Malone, 1841-1906) was a New York City actor, popular on Broadway during the early 20th century. Regarded for his classical repertory, Malone starred in a number of Shakespearean classics including Twelfth Night (1900), Hamlet (1905) and As You Like It (1902). He also appeared in plays by Yeats and Schiller. Normal mailing folds. Lightly toned. Pencil notes (unknown hand) at top left corner. Light paperclip impression at top edge. Slightly soiled. 2½ in separation from pages. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
