McIntire/1978", in blue ink, B/w 8x10. Radio, screen and television actor
John McIntire (1907-1991) is best known for his Western roles, both in
films and on television. He gained wide recognition for his two most popular
television roles: Chris Hale, the trail master on Wagon Train
(1961-1965) and Clay Grainger, the owner of the Shiloh Ranch, on NBC's
The Virginian, television's first 90 minute Western series
(1967-1970). The latter series also featured his real-life wife, Jeanette
Nolan, as his wife, Holly Grainger (1968-1970). The couple, who met while
performing on radio, were married from 1935 until McIntire's death in 1991 and
had two children, including actor Tim McIntire, who predeceased them.
Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases and dents (not seen head on). Some
areas of ink beaded. Right bottom edge slightly clipped. Slight surface
striations. Otherwise, fine condition.
