Mitchum signed this petty cash voucher for seven days of on-location meals in 1976. This may have been signed during the shooting of The Enforcer, the final Dirty Harry with Mitchum's character Frank DiGiorgio.
Document signed "John Mitchum". 1 page, 8¼x3¾. June 25, 1976. Titled: "Petty Cash Disbursement Voucher". With pencil notations in unknown hand: "Dirty Harrys [sic] Partner Killed in/Warehouse". This voucher is for a $175 "LocationMeal Allowance" for the week of June 26, 1976.Based on the date and the notations on this voucher, this may be from the shooting of The Enforcer (1976). This was the third and last Dirty Harry film in which Mitchum portrayed Harry Callahan's partner Inspector Frank DiGiorgio... and DiGiorgio does indeed die (or at least receive a mortal wound) in a warehouse in this movie. Mitchum (1919-2001, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut) was an actor with 130 movies and TV shows to his credit between 1947 and 1990. Mitchum was the brother of Robert Mitchum as well his drinking partner, and many of his early film appearances were small roles in Robert's movies.He also had a long association with Clint Eastwood and made six movies with him between 1969 and 1976. You may know Mitchum best as Inspector Frank DiGiorgio, Harry Callahan's partner in the first Dirty Harry movies: Dirty Harry (1971), Magnum Force (1973) and The Enforcer (1976). Mitchum also wrote the poem America, Why I Love Her. A 1973 recording of this poem, recited by John Wayne, earned Mitchum a Grammy nomination. Lightly toned, foxed and creased, otherwise in fine condition.
