JOHN CONNELL
The actor writes Daniel Blum, Founder of Theatre World, sending requested information
Autograph letter signed: "John Connell", in black ink, 4x6. February 20. In full: "Mr. Blum, Please forgive my not getting this information to you before this [items not included]. The time since the opening has been rather hectic and I am only now getting settled. Very best wishes". John Connell (1923-2015), was an actor of both stage and film, began his career with a debut in Broadway's Time Limit! (1956). He appeared in one more Broadway play in 1956, and then went on to television, where he appeared in minor roles in several series. However, with his warm toned voice, Connell is most known for his advertising work. At one time or another, he has voiced commercials for various high ranking companies, such as Maxwell House Coffee, American Airlines, Xerox, Proctor & Gamble, Ford, Uniroyal, McDonald's, H&R Block and Brooklyn Union Gas. DANIEL BLUM (1900-1964) founded Theatre World in 1945, serving as its chief editor until his death in 1964. Aided by Norman McDonald and John A. Willis (his successor as chief editor), Blum also conceived what would become the prestigious Theatre World Awards for promising new actors in the New York stage, Broadway and later off-Broadway as well. Fine condition.
