John Philip Sousa, Alfred Hollns and Hebert Walton sign an album leaf.
Signatures: "John Philip Sousa/1911", 3¾x3¾ album leaf. Also signed on verso: "Alfred Hollins", "Herbert Walton/[musical quotation]". John Philip SOUSA (1854-1932) was Bandmaster of the U.S. Marine Band from 1880-1892, when he organized his own band and began touring the U.S. and overseas. He composed about 140 military marches, including "The Stars and Stripes Forever" (1896) as well as comic operas. Alfred HOLLINS (1865-1942) was a blind British composer and organist, the organ being an especially difficult instrument to play sightless. He published an autobiography, A Blind Musician Looks Back. Herbert WALTON was the organist at Glasgow Cathedral, Scotland. Slightly soiled. Frayed left edge where leaf was removed from a book. Otherwise, fine condition.
