JOHN R. BRADY - SIGNATURE(S) 02/26/1881 - HFSID 142827

New York Supreme Court Justice John R. Brady signed this sheet in 1881, just seven months before the assassination of President James A. Garfield. Brady swore in Garfield's successor, Vice President Chester A. Arthur.
Signature: "Jn. R Brady/Feby 20. 1881/N. Y." 6¾x4, with rounded right edges. John R. Brady, (1821-1891) was a New York Supreme Court Justice from 1873 until his death. He swore in Chester A. Arthur as president after the assassination of President James A. Garfield on Sept. 20, 1881 in Arthur's New York City apartment. Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Neatly torn form album at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
