Autograph Note signed: "John Raitt", 7x9¼. No place, 1968 May 16. To "George". Captioned newspaper photo (b/w, 1¼x3) affixed in lower right. In full: "Great seeing and talking with you again. Your friend." Ink date (unknown hand) added to photo caption. Baritone singer John Raitt (1917-2005) came to national attention when he took over the role of Curly in the national tour of Oklahoma (1944). The following year, he debuted on Broadway as the star of Carousel. He took his stage role in The Pajama Game (1954) to the screen (1957). He didn't much like film work, however, preferring to tour in stage performances. Raitt, closely identified with standards he had made famous such as "If I Loved You" and "Hey There". He had a one-man show in the 1980s. John Raitt is the father of popular singer Bonnie Raitt. The two appeared together, and sang at each other's weddings. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Slightly frayed left edge where page was removed from a book. Mounting adhesive shows slightly at top edge of photo. Otherwise, fine condition.
