Original Art inscribed and signed: "For John Raitt/From/Faith Baldwin/With many Thanks For his nice note", 4¾x5½. Pencil drawing also signed by the artist "JRaitt". Faith Baldwin (1893-1978)wrote more than 85 books, including over 60 novels, mostly light fiction for female audiences. Her popularity peaked during the Depression, when many of her works appeared in serial and movie form. She wrote a column for Woman's Day magazine, and hosted a radio and later TV program, Faith Baldwin Romance Theatre. She continued writing novels, though at a slower pace, after recovering from the eye surgery described here. While in college in the 1930s, JOHN RAITT began drawing portraits of famous people. He sent his artwork to each subject with a request that it be autographed and returned to him. One horizontal fold. Tape affixed at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
