JOHN RAITT and GARRISON KEILLOR Original portrait of Erickson, drawn by John Raitt, signed by both! Original Art inscribed and signed: "Not bad, John/Garrison Keillor", 5x8. Pencil drawing also signed by the artist "Raitt". While hosting a classical musical program on Minnesota Public Radio (1968-1982), GARRISON KEILLOR (b. 1942) began broadcasting mock commercials for nonexistent businesses in the fictional town of Lake Wobegon, Minnesota. In 1974, he began hosting his own show, "A Prairie Home Companion". The show combined music, comedy and storytelling, both by and about its rustic characters. Originally heard nationally as a radio special in 1979, the show eventually was carried by more than 200 public radio stations, and its creator was honored with a 1981 Peabody Award and 1987 Grammy Award. Keillor collected some of his stories in his 1985 book, Lake Wobegone Days, which earned a 1985 Grammy Award for its audio version. While in college in the 1930s, JOHN RAITT began drawing portraits of famous people. He sent his artwork to each subject with a request that it be autographed and returned to him. Two horizontal folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
