JOHN RAITT, IMOGENE COCA and KING DONOVAN Original portrait of Coca and Donovan, drawn by John Raitt, signed by all three! Original Art inscribed and signed: "To John Raite-/With best good wishes and/sincere admiration-/Imogene Coca Donovan" and "King Donovan", 5x8. Pencil drawing also signed by the artist "Raitt". Comic actress IMOGENE COCA (1908-2001) was on stage from 1925, in film from 1937, often in skits parodying everything from ballet to heavy drama. She is most famous, however, as Sid Caesar's comic partner on TV's Your Show of Shows (1950-1954), winning an Emmy in 1952. Her talents were underutilized in subsequent TV series. Film highlights included a dying aunt in National Lampoon's Vacation (1983). She was nominated for a Tony as Best Featured Actress in a Musical for On the Twentieth Century (1978). Her husband, KING DONOVAN (1918-1987) appeared on Broadway, in films and on television for nearly forty years. A regular on shows like The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show and The Bob Cummings Show, his film credits include The Magnetic Monster (1953), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), The Defiant Ones (1958), and The Hanging Tree (1959). While in college in the 1930s, JOHN RAITT began drawing portraits of famous people. He sent his artwork to each subject with a request that it be autographed and returned to him. Two horizontal folds. Adhesive residue at corners and near edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
