JOHN RAITT and BOBBY VINTON Original portrait of Vinton, drawn by John Raitt, signed by both! Original Art signed: "Bobby Vinton", 5½x8¾. Pencil sketch, also signed by the artist "Raitt". Although his sentimental ballads were more similar in style to singers of earlier decades, Stanley Robert "BOBBY" VINTON (b. 1935) was a big hit with young listeners in the 1960s. He scored five big hits between 1962 and 1964: "Roses Are Red", "Blue on Blue", "Blue Velvet", "There, I've Said It Again" and "Mr. Lonely". Unlike many of his rivals, he more than survived the British invasion, with further big hits like "I Love How You Love Me" (1968). From 1962 to 1972, Vinton had more #1 Billboard hits than any other singer, including Presley and Sinatra. Vinton hosted his own TV musical variety show (1975-1978) and owned his own theater in Branson, Missouri until 2002. (He still returns there for annual engagements.) From the 1930s until the end of the century, JOHN RAITT made pencil drawings of famous persons, and then mailed the drawings to the subject with a request that they be autographed for him. Two horizontal folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
