JOHN RAITT and DON RICKLES Original portrait of Rickles, drawn by John Raitt, signed by both! Original Art signed: "Don Rickles", 5½x8½. Pencil drawing also signed by the artist "Raitt". DON RICKLES, born in New York City in 1926, began as a traditional stand-up comic, but when annoyed by hecklers, he instinctively responded with insults of his own. Audiences laughed harder at his impromptu insults than his prepared material, and thus the die was cast for his show-business future. Rickles, who hosted his own TV variety show (1968-1969), has also appeared as a guest star on a number of television shows, and he has made a number of films, including Where It's At?, Kelly's Heroes and several of the Beach Party films. In 1995, after several years away from films, Rickles resurfaced with a solid supporting part in Casino. Disney fans may recognize Rickles' voice as that of Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story (1996) and Toy Story II (1999).  JOHN RAITT began drawing portraits of famous people while attending college in the 1930s. He sent his artwork to each subject with a request that it be autographed and returned to him. Two horizontal folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
