JOHN RANDOLPH
The actor pens a short note to Theatre World Founder Daniel Blum, forwarding his publicity information for an upcoming publication
Autograph note signed: "Dear Mr. Blum,/Enclosed find photos as requested for your files./Johnny Randolph," in black ink, 1 page, 8½x11. A Broadway performer from 1938, John "Johnny" Randolph (1915-2004) was blacklisted from films and television for over a decade during the McCarthy era. From the 1960s on, he appeared in character roles in such films as Serpico (1966), All the President's Men (1976, as Attorney General John Mitchell, whom he resembled physically), and Prizzi's Honor (1985). He earned a Tony for Best Featured Actor in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound (1987). Daniel Blum (1900-1964) founded Theatre World in 1945, serving as its chief editor until his death in 1964. Aided by Norman McDonald and John A. Willis (his successor as chief editor), Blum also conceived what would become the prestigious Theatre World Awards for promising new actors in the New York stage, Broadway and later off-Broadway as well. Corners lightly worn and creased. Light surface creases. Toned. Staple hole in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
